Hiking paths
Path from Schiulești to Mănăstirea Crasna - Yellow
From the bus stop:
Facing La Doi Pași, go left. Follow the road ahead, leading up.
Continue straight ahead. At the fork in the road, choose the left way (arrow saying Mănăstirea Crasna pointing in that direction as well).
Going further up, you reach a parking lot with the village park at your right side. There is a road on your left, going up very steep. Turn in that direction.
The road will lead you further up, past a small forest next to the park and then to some open plains. You will pass a large wooden cross on the right side of the road. Looking back from here, you have a nice view over Schiulești and the valley behind.
Continue on the road. It will lead you into a forest. There, the road goes down and the asphalt disappears.
After a couple of turns in the road, you reach a fork in the road. There is a road leading straight ahead and up and a road to the right leading further down. You will also see an arrow saying that the monastery is in that direction. Continue down on the right road.
Just before the river, you have the choice to continue ahead or go left. You can choose either way, both end by the side of the river.
Once you reach the river, there are two possible roads you can take.
Either you continue on the road for the cars, crossing the large bridge and following the way up until you reach the monastery.
Or you take the small hanging bridge for pedestrians. This leads you to a path through the forest with some steps. This is a shortcut which will lead you to the monastery much faster than the normal road.
Be aware:Don’t take this road when it’s dark. Wild bears are known to walk through this forest in the dark and you don’t want to encounter them.
Wear good shoes, because the steepness of the road can be challenging at times and part of it leads you over pebbles.
Don’t litter. There are trash bins along the hiking path to the monastery and on the terrain of the monastery.
You can enter the river, it is not deep. However, be aware that the water flows fast and the wet surfaces can be slippery.
If you take the hanging bridge, make sure you hold on to the ropes, since it can be wobbly.
Path from Izvoarele to SchiuleștiFrom the Izvoarele train station to the Schiulești village centre (La Doi Pași/bar/primary school)Leaving the station on the side of the station’s building. When facing the building with the train tracks behind you, turn left.
Do not cross the tracks, but take the first road on your right. Continue ahead on that road.
Ignore the street on the right and the first streets on the left.
Further ahead, asphalt will turn into dirt. At some point you will see a dirt road leading through the fields on the left. Turn in that direction
The path will lead you straight ahead and then to the right in a wide curve. You will see the river down in the valley. The path is leading you to a small, wobbly bridge for hikers. Take that bridge.
Leave the bridge by turning right and go to the riverside. Walk past the river, past the fence with water company machines, and take the road leading up the hill on the left, through the trees.
Once you reach the asphalt road in the village, continue straight ahead. Don’t turn left.
You will reach a crossroads with La Doi Pași and a bar on your right. This is the ‘centre’ of the village.
Be aware:The bridge is wobbly, make sure that you hold the ropes while crossing.
Bring enough water, the path from the river to the village is very steep. Also, during the summer the temperature can be high and the sun bright, so it is good to bring sunscreen.

From the Hills of Teișani, accessible by car or with a walk of 2 hours starting from the village, it is possible to reach an excellent area for walks and excursions. A multitude of paths branch off from the hills, used mainly by shepherds or by the inhabitants of the area for the transport of material by wagons and horses.
For the entire duration of the journey the route remains on the crest of the hill, making it difficult to decide which side to look at.
In the area the city noises are rare and distant, is also common to meet deers and wary hawks along the road.

5. PERSONAL THOUGHT
It was nice to be on the top of the hill surrounded by snow. Did you know that teisani is composed of the words -Tei (linden) and -șani (sled)
5. PERSONAL THOUGHT
I never was a fan of hiking but I love to discover new things and that sensation about knowing, see or do something I never knew before even when I thought that I already saw what I had to see. This was the feeling along this little trip. After this summer I got to know that thereis a hill near the village of Olteni, where the youth hostel is, where you may watch spectacular landscapes. Until now that it has snowed I didn ́t realize how beautiful it could be.
Old Memories Route - Blue
1. SPECS
The “Old Memories Route” has a length of 3,82 km. It has four remarkable spots where to stop, take a rest and discover or think about the remains of a not so distant past.
2. THE WALK
The route starts from the intersection between road 219 and 18A.
Continuing the path opens up in a large flat area surrounding by mountains. Deers and squirrels are common here, keep an eye open is a must.
In the middle of the meadow a weird construction is visible. This is where the German placed their RADAR aerial.
Leaving behind pieces of history the path reaches the top of the hill, great place to take a rest.
Down the hill, an unchanged old station has been waiting for some time, marking the point of arrival.
3. KEEP IN MIND
If you are interested in the history of the place I recommend to explore the area, there are buildings and relics belonging to the Second World War scattered around, just find them.
4. DID YOU KNOW?
The operation of the radar is based on the physical phenomenon of dispersion, that is when the electromagnetic wave transmitted by the radar breaks upon contact with a larger object. The return radiation captured by the antenna makes it possible to identify the place of the collision, therefore the position of the object.
5. PERSONAL THOUGHT
I think the top of the hill is an amazing place to take a rest, I would do a picnic there, contemplating the views of Valea de Munti between the valleys. Moreover, as I am interested in History, it was fascinating to explore and to find ruins of buildings from the Second World War. As for the old train station, the isolation of the place and the derelict rails makes me want to listen to music and meditate. It is not a sanctuary at the beginning of the route, but it is somehow spiritual for me.

5. PERSONAL THOUGHT
I think the path is good if you like being in nature and and you will also get a beautiful view of the surrounding hills, but I don’t think it’s for everyone especially if you are afraid of dogs
since there are sheep dogs walking around and for some that might be intimidating, also you will have to walk along the motorway on your way back.
